maybesitter – summer//wasteland

summer//wasteland” is a debut song by maybesitter, an outstanding Australian singer-songwriter. It may be his first piece of work, but don’t let that info fool you because his sound carries many brilliant ideas and excellent orchestrations. Soundwise, maybesitter explores various music genres to illustrate such rich and luxurious sonic imagery. Perhaps indie rock comes to mind, but you’ll notice many different but complementary music genres lurking around. Don’t be surprised if you stumble upon the elements of dream pop, indie pop, shoegaze, surf rock, and pop punk along the way because maybesitter fully stacked his debut with all these qualities. It’s also good to mention that maybesitter uses all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift “summer//wasteland” on an entirely new level while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with many different but complementary styles resulted in a mesmerizing song that will appeal to even the pickiest listeners.

Right with the initial notes and beats, you’ll notice how maybesitter thoroughly planned the entire song. “summer//wasteland” arrives with a perfect structure packed with many segments and marvelous orchestrations. His brilliant ideas stand out from many contemporaries due to blending all those musical styles into a fine piece of sonic artistry. The interplay between rhythm and lead guitars shapes a perfect backdrop for all the vocals to shine upon. You’ll notice how memorable, semi-distorted, reverby, palm-muted riffs, arpeggiated, and regular chord progressions resonate from all possible sides, allowing listeners to dive deep into the song’s otherwordly ambiance. maybesitter tastefully and expertly assembled all these orchestrations, so listening pleasure is more than guaranteed. In the meantime, maybesitter’s outstanding vocal harmonies serve as a centerpiece, emphasizing all the sections and instrumentations. His performance commands attention and guides listeners by perfectly balancing low, mid, and high notes. Also, it’s nearly mindblowing how vocals and guitars match together harmoniously.

maybesitter also thought about the rhythms section, so you’ll hear how vividly intricate, audible, warm-sounding basslines roar beneath all those sonic layers, offering more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth. Besides immensely supporting all these orchestrations, the bass guitar also bind guitars with drums. Of course, this track wouldn’t sound complete without the exceptional drumming performance. The carefully arranged rhythmic patterns based upon delicate beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics dictate groove and pace while simultaneously keeping the remaining instruments in line. Everything sounds top-notch from scratch to finish, proving that maybesitter is a clever songwriter whose writing, composing, arranging, and producing abilities shine during each moment throughout the song. His skills and talent make him a standout artist among newcomers, so you should check out his debut single as soon as possible. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
