fxrrvst - Lavender

Lavender” is a recently released track by fxrrvst, an excellent Toronto-based duo. It’s their first piece of work this year, serving as an adequate follow-up of “Dear Friend Pt. 2,” an outstanding extended play release consisting of six powerful songs that you should immediately check out. Still, “Lavender” arrives with many innovations in songwriting, composing, arranging, and producing. For those stumbling upon fxrrvst for the first time, these experienced musicians combine several different but complementary music genres to illustrate such rich and luxurious sonic imagery. Perhaps contemporary indie rock comes to mind first, but you’ll undoubtedly stumble across some of the finest properties borrowed from emo, skate rock, and alternative. These experimentations with several styles work to the advantage of this composition, and you can also notice how the duo used all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that unquestionably uplift this song on an entirely new level while they simultaneously remain loyal to the primary sonic direction.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice all the ideas and effort fxrrvst invested into their latest track. “Lavender” arrives with a perfect song structure, stacked with many segments and garnered with outstanding instrumentations. It’s nearly mindblowing how everything is aligned in the mix to perfection, proving fxrrvst thought about even the tiniest details and nuances. Of course, you’ll hear how the marvelous vocal performance emphasizes all the mentioned segments and orchestrations. The perfect balance between low, mid, and high notes commands attention and guides the listener, but also adds a touch of more than necessary complexity to this easy-listening number. In the meantime, the guitars resonate with calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal sonic maneuvers, acting as a perfect backdrop that immensely supports all the vocal articulations. The interplay between rhythm and lead guitar shapes such a cathartic atmosphere. You’ll notice how cleverly assembled chord progressions and riffs resonate on one side while the other shines with catchy, memorable, hypnotic leads, themes, melodies, harmonies, and other sonic maneuvers. Also, it’s nearly mindblowing how guitars and vocals suit each other harmoniously throughout the entire song.

This composition wouldn’t sound this good without equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines. These flawlessly performed low-ends roar beneath all the guitar layers, offering more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth while binding the mentioned orchestrations with the remainder of the rhythm section. Also, you’ll hear how the energetic, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other drumming acrobatics keep the remainder of the instrumentations in line while dictating groove and tempo. fxrrvst poured heart and soul while writing, composing, arranging, and producing their latest single, and it undoubtedly demonstrates all their abilities as musicians and songwriters. Their dedication to delivering exceptional modern indie rock experience goes beyond comprehension, and “Lavender” is one of the tracks that will appeal to your listening apparatus no matter which music style you prefer. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
