Alexa Lash – Fate

Fate” is the latest single by Alexa Lash, a profoundly talented Miami-based singer-songwriter whose latest track personifies, questions, and analyzes the concept of fate. It’s her fourth single, arriving as an adequate follow-up of “MIA (Ukulele Version),” “Missing,” and “Fuck That Noise,” three outstanding numbers released earlier this year. However, this particular song brings a fresh and innovative approach to writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing. Soundwise, Alexa Lash combines a singer-songwriter approach with some of the finest elements borrowed from Americana, classic rock, folk rock, alternative rock, alt-folk, indie folk, indie rock, and indie pop to illustrate such a rich and luxurious sonic imagery. She uses all these additional sonic ingredients as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift her song on an entirely new level while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with many different but complementary music genres resulted in a mesmerizing composition that will appeal to even the pickiest listeners and beyond.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice that Alexa Lash thoroughly planned everything. “Fate” arrives with a marvelously assembled structure, decorated with many carefully planned segments, enhanced with brilliant ideas and exceptional musicianship. Every section of this number has some details, nuances, and accentuations that will retain your attention and keep craving for more. Of course, Lash’s marvelous vocal performance serves as a centerpiece, emphasizing everything she tried to achieve with this song. She expertly glides over low, mid, and high notes, decorating all those segments and orchestrations with such. It’s also good to mention that these vocal harmonies command attention and guide the listener on this reflective sonic journey. The guitars also shine in the mix. The layers of carefully composed chord progressions, harmonies, melodies, and themes act as an adequate backdrop for her vocals while the interplay between rhythm and lead guitars adds a touch of more than necessary complexity and depth. You’ll immediately hear how all those acoustic chord progressions resonate on one side, while the other offers semi-distorted, reverby, slide themes. Alexa Lash masterfully assembled all these guitar layers, enhancing the listening experience to the max.

In the meantime, you’ll hear how the bass guitar roars beneath all these guitars, offering equally intricate, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines, providing heaviness, clarity, and depth. This particular instrument also binds all the mentioned orchestrations with drums, ensuring everything is glued. The outstanding drumming performance directs groove and pace with moderate, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics while keeping the remainder of the instrumentations in line. You’ll notice how the rhythm section plays an equally important role like guitars and vocals, making this magnificent song one of the standouts on the contemporary singer-songwriter music scene. Alexa Lash is one of those artists who uses all her abilities and transforms them into calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal instrumentations empowered by meaningful messages. Her music resonates with sincerity, confidence, and power, making “Fate” one of the best indie folk rock tracks this year. You should put this song on your radar as soon as possible. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
