DEAD DOG SUMMER is a band from Čakovec, Croatia that has been active in the independent music scene since the end of 2020. The band has released one album, “A Place of Someday,” which came out in 2022 as a digital edition. In May 2023, the album was also released on vinyl by Geenger Records and on their own label, My Last Station.
Despite being relatively new, DEAD DOG SUMMER has already played numerous shows and festivals in Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, and Serbia.
The band is currently in the process of writing new songs and performing at various shows throughout Croatia and the surrounding area. “Believe It” is the second single from their forthcoming album, which is expected to be released by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
“Believe It” is a song that emphasizes the importance of belief in oneself and the need to surround oneself with people who encourage personal growth. It discourages association with individuals who often dismiss ideas and goals as impossible out of fear. The song highlights that every achievement in life begins with a mere spark of inspiration, a wish, which eventually becomes a reality.”
“The band adheres to the DIY or “do-it-yourself” ethic, which means that they recorded their latest song in their own studio/rehearsal space. Ivan Jakić from Kut Sobe studio made the mix and mastering of the song. Additionally, the band filmed the video themselves in their rehearsal space and the editing was done by their drummer Boris Strahija.
If you had to categorize Dead Dog Summer’s music, it would be easiest to classify them as hardcore punk. They combine explosive guitar riffs with a solid rhythm section and a mix of singing and screaming vocals. The band members are Igor Bistrović (vocals and guitar), Krešo Žerjav (bass and vocals) and Boris Strahija (drums).
