Daisychain – Stay

Stay” is a debut single by Daisychain, a newly-formed Manchester-based indie rock quartet. It’s an excellent overture into the sound of a very promising band that knows its sonic direction right from the start. Soundwise, perhaps Daisychain almost solely relies upon the fundamentals of contemporary indie sound, but it’s not the only genre you’ll stumble upon on this ear-appealing sonic journey. Quite the contrary, you’ll notice how they incorporated some of the finest properties borrowed from modern alternative and emo rock into this mesmerizing sonic equation. These highly creative musicians used all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift their debut song on an entirely new level while remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with several styles resulted in an otherwordly modern indie rock track that will suit even the pickiest listeners and beyond.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice how much time, ideas, and effort Daisychain invested into their debut. This number shines with brilliant ideas and impressive musicianship rarely heard or seen in the works of much experienced indie bands. They poured all their experience, knowledge, skills, and talent into it, and their endeavor is vividly hearable from scratch to finish. Lissy Nicholson’s astounding vocal performance serves as a centerpiece, emphasizing all the segments and instrumentations with such ease. She seamlessly glides over low, mid, and high notes, decorating everything the remainder of the band tried to achieve with this song, but it’s also good to mention that her performance also commands attention througout the entire track. The guitars shine in the mix by delivering many excellent orchestrations. You’ll hear how the interplay between rhythm and lead guitar acts as a perfect backdrop, supporting all the mentioned vocal articulations from beginning to end. It’s nearly mindblowing how the rhythm guitar bursts with all those semi-distorted chord progressions and riffs on one side, while the lead guitar resonates with arpeggiated chord progressions, harmonies, melodies, and themes on the other. This multilayered sonic experience will immediately grab your attention and refuse to let go until the song comes to an end.

“Stay” wouldn’t sound this powerful without the equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines. The bass guitar offers more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity but also acts as a glue that binds guitars with drums. You’ll also notice how the impressive drumming performance dictates groove and tempo with energetic, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Besides propelling these orchestrations, the drummer also keeps the entire band in line, ensuring everything sounds tight and in control. Daisychain is one of those new indie bands you surely don’t want to miss. With vocal, sonic, and rhythmic performances like this, Daisychain offers everything you need from an indie band and more. “Stay” is one of the best indie rock bands you’ll hear this year. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
