Soundwise, The Sons Of James continue with what they’re doing best, delivering a premium modern melodic punk rock to the table. The Sons Of James worked hard on the song’s arrangements, and their effort is more than hearable from scratch to finish. They always put extra effort into their music, but “The Real You” showcases the natural progression in songwriting, composing, arranging, recording, and producing. This track stands out as one of their best works to date, thanks to all the ideas they invested in it, and you’ll notice it in every pore and section of the song. “The Real You” arrives with a rock-solid structure adorned with many segments decorated with premium vocal, sonic, and rhythmic maneuvers. Speaking of the vocals, the lead vocalist always delivers an exceptional performance, emphasizing all the mentioned sections and instrumentations by skillfully gliding over low, mid, and high notes. The additional back vocals and singalongs add a subtle anthemic vibe, one of the primary characteristics of their music. Still, The Sons Of James expertly dose these additional vocal lines without spoiling the remainder of the track.

Once again, the guitars shine in every segment by acting as a perfect backdrop for an outstanding vocal performance. The interplay between rhythm and lead guitars arrives as a colossal wall of an ear-appealing sound that suits the vocals. You’ll notice all those octaves, themes, melodies, and harmonies resonating on one side while the heavily distorted and palm-muted riffs burst on the other. It’s nearly mindblowing how these two instruments articulate harmoniously from scratch to finish. Of course, you’ll hardly avoid all those powerful low-ends rumbling beneath the thick guitar layers. The bass guitar is solely responsible for binding guitars and drums with all those tastefully assembled, warm-sounding lines. Still, this track wouldn’t sound like this without excellent drumming performance. The skillful drummer dictates groove and pace with such ease, delivering marvelously arranged beats, breaks, fills, and other drumming maneuvers. These folks nailed it once again, and “The Real You” will be right up your alley if you’re into catchy, anthemic, modern melodic punk rock sound. The Sons Of James never disappoint, and this track is more than a rock-solid proof of it. Head to your favorite streaming platforms and blast it loud.
