Pleaser – Always Looking In

Always Looking In” is the latest single by Pleaser, a Kentucky-based indie duo. It’s their first song this year and a title track from their upcoming debut full-length album. Soundwise, the band combines the fundamentals of indie rock sound with some of the finest properties borrowed from indie pop, alternative, and soft rock. However, don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some other music genres along the way. Pleaser use all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift the composition on an entirely new level while simultaneously remaining loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with different but complementary music genres resulted in a mesmerizing number that will unquestionably appeal to even the pickiest indie rock fans.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice these folks thought about everything while writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing their latest single. They thoroughly planned the entire song structure, so you’ll stumble upon many cleverly arranged segments that carry catchy, addictive, hypnotic memorable, and impressive instrumentations. The vocal performance steals the show by skillfully balancing low, mid, and high notes. These vocal harmonies guide the listeners throughout the song while emphasizing all the segments and orchestrations. You’ll hear how the clean and semi-distorted chord progressions act as a perfect backdrop that supports all those vocal articulations while the lead guitar provides the additional layer of arpeggiated chord progressions, harmonies, melodies, and themes. It’s nearly mindblowing how the vocals and guitar work together harmoniously, ensuring a fascinating listening experience worth repeating over and over again.

Of course, Pleaser thought about the rhythm section too. The equally intricate, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines offer more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity, but also serve as a binding element between guitars and drums. The outstanding drumming performance dictates groove and tempo with tastefully arranged, moderate, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Each instrument plays a significant role in this sonic equation, and Pleaser thought about even the tiniest detail and nuances while assembling this track. “Always Looking In” is an indie masterpiece that will immediately grab your attention with a calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal ambiance. Every section of this track arrives with magnificent vocal, sonic, and rhythmic performances that will convince you to spin this song over again or revisit the remainder of Pleaser’s discography. These guys invested so many excellent ideas into “Always Looking In,” and their effort paid off in a marvelous number that you’ll instantly place on your indie playlist. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
