Present Paradox – The Crack

The Crack” is a new single by Present Paradox, a solo project of Dortmund-based songwriter, producer, and musician David Kleinekottmann. It’s the first track this year, acting as an adequate overture into “A Trace To Keep Control,” an upcoming full-length album slated for release on May 17th. Soundwise, Present Paradox combines many different but complementary music genres to illustrate such a rich and luxurious sonic landscape. His music defies the categorization into a singular style, but you’ll notice how some genres reign supreme compared to others. Perhaps art-rock comes to mind first, but don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties borrowed from many similar music genres like post-rock, post-punk, goth rock, psychedelic rock, new wave, alternative, cinematic ambient, etc. Present Paradox uses all these elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that unquestionably uplift this composition on an entirely new level, while he remains loyal to the primary sonic direction. Therefore, these experimentations with additional sonic ingredients resulted in a mesmerizing number that will appeal to anyone into flawlessly performed and skillfully arranged music.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice how David Kleinekottmann thought about everything while writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing this song. He planned the entire song structure, so every segment arrives with many brilliant ideas distilled into wonderful orchestrations. His charismatic voice is the centerpiece, emphasizing all these segments and instrumentation. These vocal harmonies glide over low, mid, and high notes with such ease guiding the listener and making this song even more enjoyable. Besides vocals, guitars play a significant role in this sonic equation. You’ll notice how the interplay between rhythm and lead guitars acts as a perfect backdrop for Kleinekottmann’s vocal articulations. The rhythm guitar carries the majority of the ambiance by delivering cleverly assembled chord progressions, while the lead guitar comes like the cherry on top with the additional themes, melodies, and harmonies. It’s nearly mindblowing how these instrumentations work to the advantage of the song, making “The Crack” worth repeating over and over again.

David Kleinekottmann also thought about the rhythm section, so you’ll notice delicate, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines rumbling beneath these guitar layers. The bass guitar contributes to the heaviness, depth, and clarity but also binds the guitar and drums. This track wouldn’t be complete without excellent drumming performance based upon moderate, tastefully constructed, well-accentuated rhythmic sequences. These beats dictate groove and tempo while simultaneously keeping the remainder of the orchestrations in line. “The Crack” sounds divine from scratch to finish. Present Paradox fully stacked his latest single with intricate instrumentations, which together shape such a calm, soothing, relaxing, ethereal soundscape. The song continuously levitates between different eras like the eighties new wave, post-rock, post-punk, psych-rock over nineties alternative and indie rock, and to the contemporary sound. It’s an art-rock masterpiece that shines with all the experience, knowledge, skills, and talent, provided by a brilliant artist such as Present Paradox. You should put this number on your radar as soon as possible. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
