Shonan Release New Song “Playing With Fire”

Shonan ignites the airwaves once again with their latest offering, “Playing with Fire,” released via Rocketman Records on March 19th, 2024. Following the earlier release of “Play Me Something” in January, the band sets ablaze anticipation for their upcoming EP. Departing from their usual sonic terrain, Shonan ventures into uncharted musical territories, teasing listeners with a taste of their bold experimentation.

“Playing with Fire” emerges as a mesmerizing quasi-ballad, interwoven with the unmistakable threads of alternative rock. Starting with a gentle, lulling melody, the track gradually ignites into a blaze of energy and tempo, reminiscent of the dynamic stylings of bands like Feeder, Alkaline Trio, and Blink-182. “We wrote a song that focuses a lot on sonic depth, something warm, enchanting and epic”, says Shonan about Playing with Fire. “It’s a crescendo: as the seconds pass, the song gains intensity and power, up to the long instrumental outro. We started off with a slower guitar riff and a velvety groove; then, when it came to conjuring up a finale that could live up to the rest of the tune, we thought of Type O Negative’s outros, and that’s what we set about to do”.
