Telling Secrets – (Wake Up) Full Moon

Telling Secrets is back with another fine piece of sonic artistry. Led by a principal songwriter and composer, Vik Kovacs, this Manchester/Surrey-based outlet delivers another exceptional song called “(Wake Up) Full Moon.” It’s the first single in 2024, serving as an adequate follow-up of “Fall Behind,” an outstanding song released last year. Soundwise, Telling Secrets once again offers a modern pop-punk sound, enhanced with so many different but complementary music genres. All the vital elements borrowed from emo, alternative, indie, and melodic punk rock are still omnipresent here, but you’ll also notice some of the finest properties borrowed from modern metal, melodic metal, and metalcore lurking around. Vik Kovacs is a pro in assembling compositions where all these qualities shine during particular segments or instrumentations, but they use contemporary pop-punk sound as a primary base, remaining loyal to the genre from scratch to finish.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice how many brilliant ideas have been incorporated into this sonic equation. Telling Secrets balances powerful and calm moments, low and high notes, and other contrasting delicacies with such ease, proving why he’s the one of the most exciting contemporary pop-punk acts. Like in his previous works, Vik Kovac’s outstanding vocal abilities steal the show by balancing all the low, mid, and high notes. His vocal performance emphasizes and uplifts all the segments and instrumentations, making this song such a pleasant listening experience worth repeating over and over again. Telling Secrets equally sounds tremendous during calm and heavy moments, with both polarities offering more than enough exceptional orchestrations.

Of course, the guitars play a significant role like Kovacs’s vocal harmonies. You’ll hear how the rhythm guitar emits cleverly assembled, robust, heavy chord progressions and riffs on one side, while the other shines with catchy, hypnotic, addictive leads, themes, melodies, harmonies, and other virtuosities. This interplay acts as a perfect backdrop for Vik Kovacs’s performance. You’ll also notice how the keys and synths provide another layer of complexity by resonating with even more melodies, harmonies, ambiances, and other sonic accentuations. In the meantime, the equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding low-ends offer more than necessary heaviness, clarity, and depth, but also bind guitars and drums together. Of course, this composition wouldn’t sound this good without profoundly dynamic, flawlessly performed, well-accentuated rhythmic sequences based upon digital and analog beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Vik Kovacs and Telling Secrets thought about everything while assembling their latest single, and the efforts are notable from scratch to finish.

“(Wake Up) Full Moon” will be right up your alley if you’re looking for something more than just a modern pop-punk song. Telling Secrets offers a magnificent journey built upon brilliant ideas and exceptional musicianship, so you should check it out even if you’re a newbie to the genre. You should put Telling Secrets on your radar immediately because the creativity, talent, and ability to breathe fresh air into the genre deserve your utmost attention. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
