DAIISTAR – Good Time LP (Fuzz Club)

DAIISTAR’s debut full-length album, “Good Time,” is a comprehensive amalgam of ear-appealing compositions that effortlessly weave together elements from the golden era of eighties and nineties shoegaze, neo-psychedelic, alternative, and indie rock. From the opening notes to the final crescendo, the album is a mesmerizing journey through a landscape where raw, abrasive, and heavily distorted guitar chord progressions and riffs meet calming, soothing, and ethereal melodies, harmonies, themes, and leads. Produced by Alex Maas of The Black Angels and engineered by James Petralli of White Denim, “Good Time” resonates with a remarkable atmosphere that instantly grabs your attention and refuses to let go.

The hallmark of “Good Time” is the impeccable balance struck between the aggressive, fuzzy guitar backdrop and the calm, relaxing leads that emerge from various directions. This interplay creates a rich and dynamic sonic environment, showcasing the band’s mastery in crafting intricate themes, harmonies, chord progressions, and riffs that captivate the listener’s attention. DAIISTAR’s instrumental prowess shines through, with each element contributing to the album’s overall atmospheric brilliance. It’s also good to mention that synth performance comes like a cherry on top, uplifting the entire ambiance on a new level. You’ll be surprised by the sheer amount of marvelous sequenced melodies, and harmonies, which perfectly match guitars on every track.

The vocal performance is outstanding, delivering a perfect blend of low, mid, and high notes that complement the instrumental landscape. The vocals become vital components in conveying the band’s artistic vision, adding depth and emotion to the sonic journey. You’ll also hear how the warmth and clarity of the basslines further enhance the listening experience, providing necessary heaviness while seamlessly connecting the guitars and drums. “Good Time” wouldn’t sound this good without a stable rhythm section. The drumming is exceptional, dictating the groove and pace with cleverly arranged beats, breaks, fills, and percussive acrobatics. The rhythmic foundation complements the intricate instrumentations, creating a cohesive and immersive musical experience.

Songs like “Star Starter,” “LMN BB LMN,” “Repeater,” “Tracemaker,” “Say It To Me,” and “Heathens Gate” stand out as highlights, showcasing the band’s ability to skillfully blend genres and deliver a fresh take on familiar sounds. However, the entire album maintains a consistently high level of quality, ensuring that each track contributes to the overall brilliance of the work. “Good Time” is one of those records you should listen to from scratch to finish without taking a break. These folks not only pay homage to their influences but also push the boundaries, offering a fresh and unique take on multiple genres. DAIISTAR has crafted timeless masterpiece, destined to resonate with even the pickiest listeners. “Good Time” is available on orange vinyl and sreaming services. Head to the Fuzz Club for more information about ordering.
