Luke Tangerine – Safe

Frankfurt-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Luke Tangerine returns with his latest track, “Safe,” featuring New Jersey-based independent singer-songwriter, filmmaker, and actor Matthew Mirliani. It’s his first single in 2024 that serves as a perfect follow-up to “Digital Sin,” “Abandoned CyberWorld,” “I Adore You,” “Midlife Crisis.Again,” “Edge Of The Universe,” and many more exceptional tracks this prolific artist released during 2023. Those stumbling upon Luke Tangerine‘s music for the first time can expect a comprehensive collection of different but complementary music genres that flawlessly work together to shape a rich and luxurious ambiance. Therefore, you can expect all sorts of electronic music, like synthwave, synthpop, electro-pop, alt-pop, and new wave. It’s needless to say that Luke Tangerine skillfully wrote, composed, arranged, recorded, and produced this song, because that’s always the case.

“Safe” showcases the natural progression of an artist but also keeps some signature moves showcased in the previous works. You’ll notice how this catchy track carries everything Luke Tangerine is known for. There are profoundly detailed rhythmic sequences built upon danceable electronic and synth beats, breaks, and other percussive acrobatics, keeping the remainder of the instrumentations in line. These beats are the backbone of this track alongside equally complex, vividly hearable, semi-distorted synth low-end notes, which offer heaviness, depth, clarity, and more complexity to the rhythm section. Still, the leads, themes, melodies, harmonies, melodies, chord progressions, sequences, and ambiances are a Tangerine’s heaviest weapon in the arsenal. He masterfully combines all these instrumentations, making this song catchy, hypnotic, and irresistible. It’s also good to mention that all these sonic maneuvers serve as more than a necessary backdrop for Matthew Mirlian’s outstanding vocal performance. He balances low, mid, and high notes with such ease, emphasizing Tangerine’s exceptional instrumentations to the max.

You’ll notice how every layer has its place and purpose in the mix. Luke Tangerine cleverly arranged every segment, so “Safe” resonates with such a fresh and unique take on electronic music from beginning to end. The way he combines all those vital elements borrowed from so many electronic music subgenres goes beyond comprehension. He applied all those ingredients over the vividly hearable synthwave foundations, and it unquestionably enhances the listening experience to the max. Once again, Luke Tangerine poured all his experience, knowledge, skills, and ideas, and his effort paid off in such a magnificent track that will immediately become a staple on your playlist. You should check it out immediately. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
