Lone Kodiak – Inner Monologue

Los Angeles-based band Lone Kodiak has recently released “Inner Monologue,” a powerful track you should immediately put on your radar. “Inner Monologue” comes from an extended play release of the same name, which serves as an appropriate follow-up to previous works. Soundwise, Lone Kodiak defies categorization into a particular music genre because these experienced musicians embraced many styles while writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing music. “Inner Monologue” exemplifies their experimentations, because you can vividly hear how they combined some of the finest properties borrowed from punk rock, metal, hard rock, alternative, and many other similar genres. Punk rock and metal dominate throughout the entire song, while the band used the additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that uplift this song on an entirely new level. Therefore, their experimentations resulted in a magnificent track that will appeal to anyone into heavy, skillfully performed music.

Another thing that makes Lone Kodiak a standout band on the contemporary music scene is their perfect balance between melodies and harmonies on one side, and aggression, heaviness, and power on the other. As soon as you press play, you’ll notice these guys are not joking around with their music. Lone Kodiak incorporated heavily distorted, dirty, raw, abrasive riffs that immediately grab your attention and refuse to let go until the end. These generous servings of fuzzy distortion give a bit of sludgy texture, decorating and enhancing the ambiance on a new level. Of course, you’ll notice how equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines offer more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity, but also serve as binding elements between guitars and drums. The exceptional drumming performance based upon energetic, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics provide groove and pace but also keeps the remainder of the instrumentations in line. Everything sounds perfect from scratch to finish.

Still, the vocals steal the show here. You’ll notice how the anthemic singalongs and exceptional lead vocal harmonies are the centerpiece, emphasizing everything Lone Kodiak tried to achieve with their music. The vocalist skillfully balances low, mid, and high notes, decorating all the segments and instrumentations, but also giving a bit more complexity to this track. Lone Kodiak thought about even the tiniest details while assembling “Inner Monologue.” Their experience, talent, ideas, and musicianship shine through every vocal articulation, riff, melody, bassline, and beat. This track bursts with power and creativity, so it will immediately convince you to check out their latest EP and previous discography. The single and EP are available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
