The Candy Republic – Supermarket Freak

Exeter-based indie rock group The Candy Republic has recently released “Supermarket Freak,” an anthemic track that will immediately draw your attention. Perhaps The Candy Republic relies upon the fundamentals of indie rock, but you’ll hear how many other complementary music genres found their way into this sonic equation. You’ll stumble upon sonic ingredients borrowed from post-punk, art rock, synth rock, alternative, and many more. Of course, these additional elements serve as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that uplift this catchy number on an entirely new level, while The Candy Republic remains loyal to the primary sonic direction. These experimentations with different styles resulted in an ear-appealing, catchy, energetic indie track that will unquestionably appeal to the fans of the genre and beyond.

“Supermarket Freak” carries a comprehensive collection of cleverly assembled vocal harmonies, orchestrations, and rhythmic sequences. You’ll notice how the vocal performance is the centerpiece, emphasizing every instrumentation included from scratch to finish. The storytelling lyricism guides the listener through every section. You’ll also notice how high-pitched, fuzzy, heavily distorted themes, leads, melodies, chord progressions, and riffs serve as a perfect backdrop for these vocal maneuvers, while the equally complex, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines provide more than necessary heaviness, depth, and clarity. “Supermarket Freak” wouldn’t sound this good without cleverly assembled rhythmic sequences based upon well-accentuated, energetic beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Still, that’s not all. Quite the contrary, you’ll hear a thick layer of synth and key melodies, leads, and ambiances, contributing more complexity to the song.

All these instrumentations play a significant role in shaping such a rich and luxurious ambiance. Every layer of orchestration contributes to this sonic equation with such precision and finesse, offering a multilayered sonic experience to the listeners. The Candy Republic invested all their experience, knowledge, skills, creativity, talent, and ideas while working on their latest single, and their effort resulted in a catchy indie rock number suitable to even those people who are stumbling upon this genre for the first time. You should unquestionably put “Supermarket Freak” and The Candy Republic on your radar. It will easily become your favorite indie track, and it will convince you to revisit the remainder of The Candy Republic’s discography. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it.
