Peter Bibby Shared New Single & Video “The One”

Today, Perth misfit Peter Bibby releases his new single The One, accompanied by a music video shot while the artist was in LA putting the finishing touches on a new collection of songs.

Peter Bibby on the video shoot, “I flew to LA to mix some new music I had written and we decided to shoot a music video while I was there. I had basically no idea what we were going to film, but Kristofski just picked me up and drove my jet lagged ass all over the place, pointing a camera at me everywhere we went. The result is a kind of chaotic holiday montage, like a ‘visit LA’ promo video if they didn’t actually want you to visit LA. I think it’s incredible.”

“The One was written in two parts. I started it when I was first hooking up with someone, all anxious about how I was feeling about her and thinking I was being foolish. I finished it a year or so later when I found myself living with that very same someone, happy as a pig in shit. So I guess you could say it’s a love song? As if the world needed another one of them.” says Peter Bibby

The One is a rollicking slab of up-tempo indie rock from Peter Bibby and is the first piece of new music since his highly acclaimed 2020 album Marge. “..a punch-you-in-the-face, alt-rock opus that deals with every agony life has to throw our way.” – Happy Mag. The One showcases the freewheeling and unique song-writing talents of one of Australia’s true independent icons.

Peter Bibby’s rough-and-tumble approach and affable personality has gotten him plenty of mileage as a live act, opening for Pond, performing at festivals such as Laneway, Falls and SXSW, while also notching up his fair share of rowdy headlining shows as well.

This has also translated into three well-respected studio albums. 2014’s Butcher/Hairstylist/Beautician, 2018’s Grand Champion, and 2020’s Marge. He’s an artist that has been celebrated as inherently working-class and wholeheartedly independent – as commemorated by the documentary Chasing Palm Springs, which followed Bibby on a literal cross-country journey from Perth to Melbourne in a temperamental van.
