Sundressed Released Self-Titled Debut Album; Watch Video For “Expiration Date”

The wait is over for Sundressed, the highly anticipated self-titled album from Sundressed. Out now via Rude Records, the record features the band’s latest single “Nothing” as well as “Expiration Date”, a song that vocalist Trevor Hedges wrote for his wife.

“When I wrote ‘Expiration Date’, my original plan was to perform it live and propose to my wife, but she beat me to it!” shares Hedges. “The next best thing was filming a music video for it at our wedding so we went for it. This song’s about that feeling of finding your person and knowing they’re going to be a part of your life forever!”

He adds: “’Nothing’ was originally written by our guitar player AJ and our friend Huxley. When they brought the idea to the studio, I was absolutely blown away and knew we had to find a place on the album for it. It’s rare to get to record a song with such raw emotion and I’m so proud to have it on the album!”

Earlier this summer, Sundressed performed in the VIP lounge at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater for Fall Out Boy’s concert in Phoenix. Tonight they’ll be kicking off their West Coast tour in Anaheim, with dates to follow in Berkeley, Seattle, Boise, Denver, and more. Joining the band will be Diva Bleach, as well as special guests Like Roses and New Here on select shows. To purchase tickets to their upcoming tour dates, visit: https://linktr.ee/sundressedband.

Sundressed will be celebrating their new album with a free in-store performance and signing at Zia Records Tempe (3201 S Mill Ave) on August 26 at 3pm. Purchase a limited edition blue vinyl edition of Sundressed, available only via Zia Records, here.

They’ll also be hosting a special album release party on September 16 at Rebel Lounge in Phoenix. Titled “A Night of Adult Emo Contemporary”, the early show features Sundressed along with Sympathy Card and special guests    Dogpile and Knee Breaker. The late show will feature The Adult Contemporary Emo Band, special guests to be announced.

Living on such a chaotic planet, tossing and turning is inevitable. It’s hard to sleep in the midst of uncertainty. That’s why Sundressed was born. Lead vocalist and songwriter Trevor Hedges began his project in 2012, with the initial purpose of maintaining his sobriety. Now, 10 years later, Hedges has refocused the project’s mission, writing songs that tackle mental health issues for others to take solace in. His confessional lyrics and punk-infused melodies inspire hope in listeners to continue moving forward.

Determined to make a positive impact one lyric at a time, Sundressed captured the attention of international label Rude Records (Saves The Day, Less Than Jake, The Maine), who signed the band in 2020 and soon after released their label debut Home Remedy. Produced by Mike Pepe – who also produced “Winner” – and featuring hit singles “Home Remedy”, “Oh Please”, “Your Frequency”, “Size Of My Heart”, and “Cash Out” feat. Sydney Sprague, Home Remedy garnered attention from tastemakers including Brooklyn Vegan, FLOOD Magazine, American Songwriter, Rock Sound, and more.

Last year Sundressed celebrated their 10th anniversary with their single “Winner” feat. You, Me And Everyone We Know. “Winner” – a track about wanting to be remembered for something – served as a remind of the band’s central theme: never give up and always keep doing what you love.

In recent months the band has adopted “adult contemporary emo” as their preferred genre, thanks in part to a viral video  shared to TikTok. What started as a joke has turned into a movement, with older emos everywhere connecting with the band’s penchant for pathos. Shares Hedges: “It was suggested to me that we’re too old to make emo music, and that it’s just for teenagers. My rebuttal to that is that life is WAY harder as an adult, and adults need emo songs too! Not to say that younger people can’t relate to our music, but older people definitely can too, and there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. This world we live in is terrifying and we need sad songs to cope for everyone!”
