Heart Attack Man – Freak Of Nature (Fly South Music)

After so many critically acclaimed standalone singles, a couple of excellent extended plays like Acid Rain and Loud & Clear, and two mindblowing full-length albums such as The Manson Family and Fake Blood, Cleveland-based trio Heart Attack Man returns with another exceptional full-length recording that will unquestionably appeal to all the pop-punk fans. Freak Of Nature explores the fundamentals of contemporary pop-punk, but the band has also incorporated some of the finest properties borrowed from other complementary music genres. Therefore, don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some sonic maneuvers usually hearable at post-hardcore, emo, skate punk, skate rock, indie rock, or alternative recordings. These guys thoroughly planned everything while writing, composing, recording, and producing their new album, so all these additional elements serve as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that define some of the best recordings. You’ll also notice how these additions don’t spoil the primary sonic direction, so Heart Attack Man stay loyal to their roots from scratch to finish.

Freak Of Nature carries ten exceptional pop-punk tracks suitable even for those listeners who’re not into this particular music genre at all. The band put so much ideas and time into this material, so even the pickiest pop-punk fans will enjoy it. Of course, these tracks wouldn’t resonate with so much emotion, sincerity, confidence, and power without the exceptional musicianship these guys invested into Freak Of Nature, and it’s surprising how much effort they put into each composition. Every track has a perfect structure that goes way beyond pop-punk cliches, and you’ll also find it fascinating how every segment bursts with jaw-dropping themes, leads, melodies, harmonies, riffs, arpeggiated, and regular chord progressions. The band continuously levitates between calm, soothing, relaxing, nearly cathartic moments where their admiration towards indie, alternative, and hip hop shines the most and enormously heavy segments where the entire band bursts with sheer aggression, energy, and power. Maybe those calm moments dominate during many songs, but these folks make things more interesting with perfect vocal arrangements where all the leading vocal parts, back vocals, and singalongs stand out. Freak Of Nature hides so many sonic delicacies waiting to be discovered, so your listening apparatus will unquestionably enjoy this mesmerizing pop-punk journey. The album is coming out on May 26 on vinyl, CD, and streaming services. Head to their official website for more information about ordering.
