Harker – Out The Window

Harker are back with another exceptional single that will unquestionably appeal to all melodic punk rock fans. These Brighton-based punk rockers are not strangers to these pages. Quite the contrary, I’ve had a chance to write an article about their debut full-length No Discordance and share some news about their second album Axiom. Harker shared many singles along the way, and we covered a majority of them through news posts. Of course, everything I heard so far sounded divine, and that’s the case with their latest masterpiece, Out The Window, which is available for listening on all streaming platforms.

Out The Window follows the footsteps of Wasting Time, Harker‘s very successful single, published several months ago. For those stumbling upon this excellent band for the first time, you may expect contemporary melodic punk rock decorated with some of the finest properties borrowed from complementary music genres such as skatepunk, pop-punk, grunge, indie, emo, and post-hardcore. It’s nearly mindblowing how they combine all these elements into a colossal slab of ear-appealing noise. Harker are pros in blending abrasive, raw, aggressive, energetic segments with more calm, soothing, cathartic moments where you can hear even the tiniest details they invested into this track. Still, all the additional music genres serve more as enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that define some of the best melodic punk rock tracks.

You’ll notice how Harker combine heavy, powerful, cleverly arranged riffs with much calmer chord progressions. The lead guitar contributes with catchy themes, leads, and licks, and these sonic maneuvers are especially hearable during those calmer moments. The guitars burst with impressive performance throughout the song, while the cleverly arranged basslines provide more density and clarity to these instruments. Of course, the lead vocalist shines throughout this sonic equation, but the band also included some flawlessly performed back vocals and singalongs. Nothing would sound so energetic without groovy rhythmic sequences built upon detailed beats, breaks, accentuations, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Harker invested brilliant ideas into Out The Window, and the effort paid off in an outstanding number that will instantly end up on your playlists. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
