Sundryver – Cross-eyed

Here’s some more exceptional music for your listening pleasure. Honestly, it has been a while since I’ve heard a song good as this one. Sydney-based Sundryver recently released Cross-eyed, an excellent debut composition fully stacked with brilliant ideas and exceptional musicianship. Soundwise, the band encompasses many music genres, so their debut track sounds luxurious from scratch to finish. These creative musicians included some of the finest properties of several complementary styles like garage rock, grunge, alternative, indie rock, post-hardcore, skate rock, and nineties rock. Some readers might think this is too many genres involved in a single track, but Sundryver thoroughly planned each sonic and rhythmic maneuver. Cross-eyed shines with balance, consistency, and energy, even rarely seen in the works by bands who performed music under similar genres for decades.

This track carries an ambiance of skate rock or indie rock but leans much more towards garage rock, grunge, and alternative. Sundryver achieved this unique sound by incorporating heavily distorted riffs, chord progressions, melodies, catchy scales, licks, and other sonic delicacies. Both guitars burst with relentless aggression, further empowered by equally complex low-end tones. Still, Cross-eyed carries a dosage of mellowness, mainly achieved through the beforementioned melodies, and leads. You’ll also notice how the flawlessly performed vocal harmonies shape the ear-appealing melodic aesthetics without spoiling the heaviness and aggression delivered by the remainder of the group. Of course, Cross-eyed wouldn’t sound energetic without an outstanding drumming performance built upon groovy, dynamic beats, breaks, accentuations, drum fills, and other percussive acrobatics. The entire band resonates with tremendous power rarely heard nowadays. Therefore, check out Cross-eyed as soon as possible because this track will easily end up on your alternative rock playlist. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
