Bayway Release “The Newport Sessions” EP

New Jersey rap-infused hardcore band Bayway have released their new EP, The Newport Sessions, out now on DAZE and RTF Records. Taking influence from predecessors like E Town Concrete and Fury of Five, Bayway bring their gritty and aggressive sound to the genre. Completely produced, mixed and mastered by the band in vocalist Jay Way’s studio, the EP features a classic skit intro leading into three in-your-face tracks. “World of Suffering” is made for the pit, charging through beefy guitars and raw lyrics. For “God Forgives Me,” the band recruited Fury Of Five vocalist Stikman and a powerful collaboration emerged, with the more rap-forward delivery complimented by deathcore style growls. “Cease II Exist” ends the EP with a speedy delivery and a beatdown ready breakdown.

Speaking on the influence of the Jersey sound, Jay stated: “We are blessed to be from an area that is so diverse and rich in culture. The music that came out of here was so different. Most of the hardcore we came up on was influenced heavily by hip-hop. That street lifestyle and mentality created a lot of really aggressive music that provided a home for kids like us that didn’t have one. It also created an atmosphere where you had to watch your back, be quick on your feet or you would get taken advantage of. It’s fast paced and you gotta fight for everything you got or you will get left behind.”

The Newport Sessions is available on cassette tape and digitally on Bandcamp and across streaming services. Bayway will play a release show on April 21st in Asbury Park, NJ at House of Independents supporting Fury Of Five and Sworn Enemy.
