Okay Camper – Garden Party

St. Catharines-based trio Okay Camper recently released Garden Party, a debut single that will appeal to all the fans of indie sound. The song represents a true introvert anthem where the character deals with social anxiety at the imaginary party. Perhaps this is Okay Camper‘s debut track, but you’ll immediately hear you’re dealing with experienced musicians who are not joking around with their music. Perhaps Okay Camper explore the fundamentals of indie rock, but you will notice how some other subgenres inspired them to write, compose, and record such an excellent song that bursts with mesmerizing ambiance. The band also incorporated some of the finest elements of indie folk, indie pop, soft rock, and alternative, so Garden Party is an ear-appealing number with many layers of thoughtfully arranged instrumentations.

This track has a perfect structure based upon moderate rhythmic sequences, detailed warm-sounding basslines, and catchy semi-distorted chord progressions. Each band member gave 100% during the recording, and it’s vividly hearable from scratch to finish. The guitars gradually become even more saturated with distortion while the rest of the orchestrations remain intact. This small detail provides even more power and complexity to the entire song. However, it seems like the lead vocal harmonies, back vocals, and singalongs are centerpieces of Garden Party, and you’ll notice how each vocal segment decorates these orchestrations. Okay Camper thought about each detail while assembling this number, so you’ll solely enjoy all the calm, soothing, relaxing, nearly cathartic sonic maneuvers. Garden Party is an excellent debut single you should check out as soon as possible. It demands your utmost attention and there’s no doubt in my mind that you’ll include it on your indie playlist. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
