Blueburst – Vanish

Watercolor by Holly Miller

Blueburst is a brand-new music project of Craig Douglas Miller, known for his work with The Reach. Vanish is his debut single and the first piece after 20 years. For this particular composition, Craig Douglas Miller has teamed up with Marty Wilson Piper of The Church and Noctorum. With experienced musicians like these, you can expect only an outstanding quality bursting from each vocal harmony, tone, and beat. Perhaps Vanish shines bright with the fundamentals of indie rock, but you’ll notice other complementary music genres lurking around from scratch to finish. Blueburst included some of the finest properties borrowed from post-punk, new wave, power pop, and psychedelic rock. However, don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some other styles because this song carries so many sonic delicacies that you’ll need several listens to grasp them all.

I adore how Vanish simultaneously resonates with exceptional arpeggiated chord progressions and abrasive riffs. Blueburst has also included some bends and solos supported by the wah-wah pedal, which serve as more than necessary accentuations. Each sonic maneuver deserves your utmost attention because it has been a while since I heard precisely recorded guitars like those presented in this number. Of course, nothing would sound so massive without equally complex warm-sounding low-end tones. These basslines give a bit more clarity to heavily distorted guitars but also serve as a glue between the mentioned instruments and drums. The profoundly dynamic rhythm section contributes to this sonic equation with enormously energetic sequences supported by various enhancements, accentuations, fills, and other percussive acrobatics that usually define the best indie songs. Vanish is such an outstanding comeback of Craig Douglas Miller, who delivered a perfect composition that will appeal to all the fans of retro and contemporary indie sound. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
