Prima Queen Drop Video For “Back Row”

Prima Queen announce the May release of their awaited debut EP “Not The Baby”, and share lead single “Back Row” – listen HERE.

“Not The Baby”, demonstrate this band’s remarkable ability to straddle genres and embrace heartfelt topics, starting today with lead single “Back Row”, a soaring, horns-led pop song about the heartbreak of breaking someone else’s heart.

On the single, Prima Queen say – ‘Back Row’ is about the pain of hurting someone that was really important to you. The EP talks a lot about changes in relationships and this song brings to light how failed relationships can be beautiful in their own way and ultimately make you who you are”.

The new EP, produced by Ali Chant (Aldous Harding, Katy J Pearson, Yard Act), is a collection of songs exploring the bittersweet range of emotions around growing up, and how change can affect your most intimate relationships.

Prima Queen say: “We’ve both experienced a lot of change in the past few years and since we write all our songs together we’re usually drawn to write about our parallel experiences.

In this EP we explore different types of change – birth & death, leaving & returning – and how it can affect our relationships. It’s a reflection not only on our own feelings but also the feelings of our family, friends and lovers.

We’re really excited to finally release a complete body of work, rather than stand alone singles. These songs are meant to be listened to together and we want people to experience the emotional journey that they create”.

Prima Queen established themselves as one of the UK’s most exciting new bands in 2022 with The Guardian dubbing them “Transatlantic indie stars” and The Independent “a remarkable new band in the making”. The band toured incessantly through the year supporting the likes of Wet LegThe Big MoonDream WifeSunflower BeanMystery JetsBilly Nomates and appearing at festivals including LatitudeGreen ManBoardmastersWilderness and Pitchfork Paris

Prima Queen are an all-female indie/alternative rock band fronted by songwriting duo and best friends Louise Macphail (Bristol, UK) and Kristin McFadden (Chicago, USA). Combining vulnerable and nostalgic story telling with light-hearted lyrical imagery, their ethereal yet gritty style draws influences from artists such as HaimJenny LewisBig ThiefSufjan Stevens and Fleetwood Mac
