Charley – Pretty Little Things

New Haven-based indie artist Charley released a new single today. Pretty Little Things is the fourth song in a row from the series of singles launched in 2020 and the first composition she released this year. Soundwise, Charley explores the fundamentals of indie sound by combining all the vital elements of the genre. Therefore, there’s a combination of pop and soft rock lurking around, empowered by some other complementary music genres. You’ll unquestionably hear some of the finest properties of alt-country, alt-folk, indie folk, and classic alternative as well. Still, there are more than enough pop elements to keep your listening apparatus occupied, while these other sonic ingredients serve as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details that define all the best indie songs.

Pretty Little Things commences with a catchy theme performed on violin and cello but suddenly transits into funky chord progressions performed on clean-sounding guitars. You’ll also notice delicate violin accentuations during the verses. All these orchestrations perfectly match Charley‘s powerful, confident, and sincere vocal performance. The chorus includes arpeggiated chord progressions that suit energetic rhythmic sequences and a soothing ambiance. Charley provides her best performance during the entire composition, and you’ll notice how she easily transits from low to high notes and vice versa. Each layer of orchestration plays a significant role in shaping such a beautiful ambiance, and you’ll hear how Charley paid attention to every detail while writing and composing such an ear-appealing song. Pretty Little Thing is a must for all the fans of indie pop, indie rock, alt-country, and alt-folk music. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
