After several extended plays like Judgement, Corners, and Wanderlust, and a series of singles such as Back To Life, Ja Reve, Those Things, Those Things (Ish Couture Remix), and Sword, Canadian alt-folk singer-songwriter littleuniverses returns with another exceptional track. Magic is a fine piece of sonic artistry that will unquestionably appeal to all the fans of the genre. However, don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties of goth rock, folktronica, dream pop, darkwave, alternative, and cinematic ambient. These additional elements serve as enhancements, accentuations, and decorations that improve an already luxurious, divine, cathartic sound.
Soundwise, littleuniverses continuously keeps Magic in such a calm, soothing, relaxing ambiance. However, she fully stacked this song with complex orchestrations that will force you to love this composition even more. You’ll notice how ear-appealing chord progressions, piano, and synths shape up such a cathartic sound while littleuniverses’ divine vocal harmonies resonate with such power. Magic also carries some instrumentations that might resemble something psychedelic pop or psychedelic rock artists would eventually incorporate into their songs. There’s also a decent amount of studio reverb that gives even more depth to the mentioned ambiance, but Little Universes skillfully applied this effect not to spoil such a divine vocal performance and orchestrations. The song works perfectly fine without rhythmic sequences, and you won’t even notice the lack of beats. littleuniverses thought about every detail while assembling this song, so Magic provides a one-of-a-kind listening experience worth repeating many times. The single is available on all streaming platforms.
