Oliver Jordan – Pedestal

After three full-length albums, one EP, and many singles such as Witches, Execution Day, Hello There, Night Patrol, Grade A Student, and We Hate The Light, Austin-based artist Oliver Jordan returns with another excellent composition that will unquestionably appeal to all the fans of post-rock sound. Pedestal is the seventh single in the row this year and an appropriate continuation of his previous works. However, this number also carries many innovations in songwriting, composing, producing, and ambiance. Besides the sheer dominance of post-punk, you’ll notice how some other complementary music genres found their place in this ear-appealing mix. Therefore, don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties of goth rock, shoegaze, dream pop, post-rock, indie, and lo-fi.

Some readers might think it is too many elements in the mix, but don’t worry, Oliver Jordan thoroughly planned the entire composition, wisely assembled a song structure, and even improved it with catchy arrangements, accentuations, enhancements, and decorations. You’ll immediately notice arpeggiated chord progressions drenched in generous amounts of reverb, echo, and delay effects; profoundly detailed ambiances probably achieved by synths; robust drumming sequences; and Jordan’s excellent voice. Besides all these orchestrations, Jordan also included some vocal samples in the middle of the song, supported by detailed catchy synth sequences and even more guitar layers. Oliver Jordan invested all his experience, knowledge, and skills into Pedestal, and the effort paid off in an excellent composition that will appeal to every post-punk fan. The single is available on Spotify.
