The Mars McClanes – The Liar

After excellent singles such as Riddle, The Worriers, Wherever You Go, and Day Is Gone, Portland duo The Mars McClanes returns with another catchy track. With all these compositions released in 2022, the band keeps its activities as prolific as possible, and it seems it doesn’t have any intentions to stop anytime soon. The Liar is just one of the examples of their creativity, where brilliant ideas and exceptional musicianship shape up such an ear-appealing ambiance. This song combines several complementary music genres into a harmonious slab built upon many sonic delicacies. Perhaps alternative rock comes to mind first, but there are some of the finest properties of garage rock, indie rock, classic rock, and rock’n’roll lurking around.

However, there’s even more. The Mars McClanes also incorporated sonic elements of Americana, country, and folk music into their composition, so many things circulate in the mix. Some readers might think it is too many ingredients involved in one song, but trust me, The Mars McClanes cleverly assembled it to satisfy even the pickiest listeners. It’s nearly mindblowing how the Americana/country aesthetic pairs with alternative rock. You’ll immediately notice that in acoustic chord progressions, semi-distorted riffs, slide guitar licks, and rhythmic segments. The Liar possesses a perfect structure based on thoughtful arrangements, catchy accentuations, and various enhancements and decorations, so it’s a complex song worth listening repeatedly. It’s good to mention that maybe Americana, country, and folk elements dominate the most, but The Mars McClanes thought about their alternative, indie, and rock side as well, so this track will suit anyone. The Liar is available for listening to on all streaming platforms.
