svicideghost – Sticks & Stones

Worcester-based artist svicideghost has recently released a new track. Sticks & Stones is the fourth number in the row from the series of singles launched in 2021 and the second piece of work this year. svicideghost also released a six-song EP called When Im Gone that gathered many positive critics from the press. Although svicideghost solely relies upon emo-rap in his previous works, Sticks & Stones indicates a slight change in sound. This particular composition leans much more towards something contemporary pop-punk musicians would eventually record, and I must admit it sounds good. Judging by this song, I can only assume svicideghost is knee-deep into this genre, but also, I can hear many other music genres lurking around in the mix.

Therefore you’ll notice some of the finest properties of emo, indie rock, indie pop, and dream pop. svicideghost skillfully combined all these elements into a colossal slab built upon harmonious vocal segments, pleasant melodies, chord progressions, riffs, warm-sounding basslines, and rhythmic sequences. The artist leads us through calm, soothing, nearly cathartic acoustic parts where his exceptional lyricism shines bright. svicideghost thought about verses as much as about choruses, so you’ll unquestionably hear the moments where all the details resonate together. However, the last chorus is heavily distorted and aggressive, while the svicideghost screams add more power to it. It’s a perfect closure for such a catchy pop-punk song, and there’s no doubt this track will be right up your alley if you’re profoundly into this genre.
