Swedish indie rock outfit Ljug Aldrig has released a debut single today. Besides streaming platforms, the artist decided to release these compositions as a limited 7″ vinyl record. Perhaps this is his debut release, but the artist doesn’t joke at all. There are layers of sound that create a colossal slab of abrasive ambiance mixed up with cathartic chord progressions, riffs, warm-sounding basslines, and moderate rhythmic maneuvers. Ljug Aldrig nurtures a specific sound based upon fundamentals of the indie-rock genre, but there’s unquestionably more than meets the eye. The artist fully stacked these two songs with so many elements borrowed from other music genres, so Stabbings/Juiced represents more than a debut release.
You may notice some properties of psychedelic rock, space rock, alternative rock, garage rock, and grunge, but the Ljug Aldrig focuses on ear-appealing, soothing, cathartic indie rock aesthetics. The beforementioned ingredients serve more like building blocks that further enhance the complex indie sound that continuously flirts with psychedelic ambiance. You’ll also notice a powerful sax performance on Juiced, which almost defines the jazzy rock direction of the entire composition. Stabbings / Juiced is an excellent overture to the sound of Ljug Aldrig, which shines bright with brilliant ideas. Stabbings / Juiced is available for listening on all streaming platforms.
