Belgian indie group So Much 4 Gravity recently released a new single. Black Ocean is the third composition in the row from a series of singles launched in 2019 and the first song the band released this year. It serves as an appropriate continuation of their critically acclaimed single, Communicate, which So Much 4 Gravity released last year. Black Ocean is a love song distilled into clever lyricism and thoughtfully arranged chants, chord progressions, melodies, harmonies, ambiances, and rhythmic segments. It represents everything you ever needed from a love song, packed into a something more than four minutes of pure indie rock artistry.
Still, So Much 4 Gravity is not just another plain indie rock band. Quite the contrary, these musicians combine various but complementary genres to achieve the desired sound. Therefore, besides the sheer dominance of indie aesthetics, you’ll stumble upon some characteristics of the alternative, post-punk, post-rock, psych-rock, darkwave, and even free jazz. Black Ocean showcases how creative and versatile these musicians are, but the band doesn’t stop there. So Much 4 Gravity has invested heart, soul, and effort in this composition that it will, without any doubt, become one of your favorite indie songs this year. Black Ocean is available for listening on all streaming platforms.
