SWEAT Premiered A New Video For Hit & Run

Los Angeles hardcore/punk act SWEAT has premiered their first single “Hit & Run” yesterday. The single is the part of the upcoming album named Gotta Give It Up. The album is now available for pre-order on Pirates Press Records’s webstore and will be available in local record stores on February 4, 2022.

“Hit & Run is the push pull feeling of things going right and wrong all at the same time; the super fine line between what should be right versus what feels right. It’s about being a hit while taking a hit, running a successful race while getting run down. Also, it’s quite literally about a hit & run: the time I was doored on my bicycle, and the guy took off for an audition of a lifetime,” says vocalist Tuna Tardugno.

SWEAT is comprised of members from bands like Graf Orlock, Dangers, Dogteeth, Ghostlimb, and others, the band formed in early 2019 to create their own unique take on hardcore and heavy music.

“We are stoked on this collaboration and upcoming release and are ready to unabashedly riff all over the planet,” says guitarist/vocalist Justin Smith.

As veterans of the southern California music scene for over two decades, SWEAT brings a plethora of different influences and experiences to its sound and songwriting. From classic rock to 80s hard to Swedish punk, the band effortlessly intertwines these varied influences to bring a raw, hardcore sound with the underpinnings of the more refined elements of classic rock.

Not only are SWEAT musicians within the southern California community, but they also play integral roles elsewhere within the music and other cultural communities. For example, guitarist Justin Smith runs his own label called Vitriol Records (Adult Books, Graf Orlock, and Trainwreck, to name a few) and is a history professor during the day. Vocalist Tuna Tardungo has long been a vinyl record guru for various stores across southern California and is also a part of the underground professional wrestling scene.

At its core, SWEAT was borne out of a friendship that reflects the band’s dedication to finding the closest approximation of its musical desire while representing a deep commitment to the love of music itself.
