Plava Laguna is the sixth album by Consecration, a band which moves all the boundaries of modern metal music for almost two decades. Formed in 2000. in Belgrade, Serbia, these innovative musicians are shapeshifting their skills, upgrading their sound, and building an institution called Consecration with brilliant ideas and some quite impressive musicianship. Plava Laguna is a slight change of a direction for this powerful trio, perhaps in some more commercial music waters, but the band is still keeping the essence of their sound, for which they’ve become famous for. Besides their traditional stoner, sludge, and post-metal riffage, the band incorporated much more alternative, almost dreamy ambient power-pop sound, so sound-wise, Plava Laguna is much more alike some space odyssey, very reverby, full of incredibly beautiful arpeggios, twisty warm basslines, and very impressive drumming. The band deals with more calmy compositions and arrangements are so complex, thoughtfully composed, but very easy-listening. Consecration has expanded their sound in so many different directions, so hard to encompass them all, it’s even more impossible to gather their music under one unifying music genre, but I can assure you Plava Laguna is one ridiculously pleasant journey through vast space of wonderful mind-bending melodies which will enlighten you in every possible way. Plava Laguna is currently digitally available through Consecration’s Bandcamp page, and it will be available on the other streaming services at the end of the October. Vinyl records will be published by Geenger Records sometime in November or December of 2019, so don’t miss this mindblowing masterpiece.
