Hesperian Death Horse – Živ LP (Geenger Records)

Hesperian Death Horse is avant-garde / post-rock / sludge band from Zagreb, Croatia that has been formed back in 2012. The band is sticking to the main concept which has been an initial idea since their formation and that’s a trilogy about birth, life, and death. Živ is a second LP from that trilogy and it delivers four compositions all being performed over six or less than a ten minutes. Tunes are dissonant, dark, depressive, but very satisfying for open-minded listeners who are looking out for a more than simple four-chord music. Black metal riffs, mathcore progressions, and twisted melodies are going surprisingly well with the sludgy sound of Hesperian Death Horse and it’s obvious they’re aiming to describe life as a form of neverending suffering, a journey through living hell interlaced with various circumstances, problems, situations involving a good and bad people during a lifetime. Their avant-garde approach to various musical genres is beyond comprehension and it goes brilliantly with the theme of this album, everything is combined to suit to the exact theme, listeners will have plenty of time to think about life in general and that’s the pure beauty of Živ LP.
