The Daily Grind – S/T CD (Melodic Punk Style)

The Daily Grind is a Norwegian punk rock band comprised of skillful musicians who grew up listening to all those great skate punk bands who shaped up the melodic sound we all know today. These musicians were already members of various bands and projects through their careers, but somehow their style wasn’t anywhere near punk rock music they used to listen, so these guys decided to start up the band in 2013. and play what they love the most. The band started up by covering a lot of tunes of a well-known acts such as Propagandhi, NOFX, Pulley, and No Use For A Name, but after some time they composed a couple of their own tracks and they were instantly hooked, so those songs were included on their self-titled EP, which has been published sometime in 2015. The band kept performing live until they’ve decided to record a proper full-length self-titled record which has been published this year. The band continued at the same unchanged direction and their music is still a fine blend of what melodic punk rock has to offer. The band demonstrates various influences throughout the whole album and it’s more than clear that bands who recorded their albums on the labels such as Epitaph Records, Fat Wreck Chords or perhaps Nitro Records affected their writing and composing, but The Daily Grind is taking a more energetic approach to this particular genre which is characteristic for Scandinavian bands such as Adhesive, Satanic Surfers, Venerea or No Fun At All. The band is constantly blasting a full specter of melodies from all the directions with dominant octave parts played on the guitars. One thing is for sure, these fine musicians are handling their instruments like a pros, the sound is tight, production is very clean, arrangements are quite good, and the band paid a lot of attention to their debut full-length album. The album is accompanied by cool illustrations and it has been published on a compact disc by Melodic Punk Style, so go ahead and give this one a try.
