Modern Time Machine’s haunting, bittersweet melodies recall elements of dream pop, new wave, and space rock, with “nuanced playing and killer hooks” (LA Times). Reverb-drenched vocal harmonies adorn the band’s feedback-laced love songs which have drawn comparisons to M83, Slowdive and Sonic Youth.
The band’s music has been heard from the radio airwaves of LA’s KROQ 106.7FM to nationally on The Eric Andre Show, where they performed with string arrangements by Chanda Dancy.
In July of 2024, Deadline premiered Modern Time Machines’ time-travel themed video, “Ghost Signs” featuring Charles Phoenix, with KCRW praising it as “garace sci-fi… its mystical psych and jazz drum-fill texture win the day.” The band has also scored the forthcoming feature-length documentary about Howard The Duck for Anchor Bay Entertainment.
Modern Time Machine’s single “Ornamental,” a songwriting collab w/ the late 2x Grammy-winning songwriting legend Allee Willis (“September” & the Friends theme song), drops today.
