North Carolina Noise Rock Band Cor De Lux Signs To Ipecac Recordings

Cor de Lux, the North Carolina quartet featuring Dawn Moraga (guitar/vocals), Tim Lusk (guitar/vocals), John Bliven (bass), and Jacob Richardson (drums), have signed with Ipecac Recordings. The band will release their debut album for the label this fall, with more details to be announced soon.

“In all parts of the world you can find hidden musical gems – you just need to keep your eyes and ears open,” Greg Werckman, Ipecac co-founder shares. “Recently, we were introduced to one of those gems… Cor de Lux, hailing from Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. They deserve a LOT more attention, and with this new record we think they will get it. VERY happy to welcome them to the Ipecac family.”

“I was at the coffee shop where I work when I read the email from Ipecac on my phone and shouted, ‘WHAT?!… Oh my God… oh shit!’” recalls Moraga. “I jumped up and down, causing an older gentleman to spill coffee on his slacks that have never seen the pit of a Jesus Lizard show. Unapologetically, I kept happily yelling while texting the guys in the band the news. (I did buy the man’s coffee). I texted the guys: ‘It’s time to open that bottle of wine a friend gave us at our first show, with the inscription: Don’t open until you land a label deal.’ We waited to pursue help from a label, and it feels perfect that we ended up with some legendary musicians we truly look up to. We feel so humbled.”

ABOUT THEIR RECENT NOISE ROCK / POST PUNK SINGLE

Cor de Lux’s most recent single, “Long Face People,” offers a preview of what’s to come. Northern Transmissions described the track as “a mixture of post-punk, goth-tinged pop, and shoegaze,” while Post-Trash noted that the band “draw from the art rock and post-punk world, adopting elements of shoegaze tonality to create music that’s bent yet decisively direct.”

Founded in 1999, Ipecac Recordings has built a reputation as one of the most artist-driven labels in independent music. Recent additions to the roster include the Jesus Lizard, mclusky, and King Garbage, joining an eclectic lineup that includes the Melvins, Spotlights, Human Impact, Venamoris, and several projects from label co-founder Mike Patton.
