Zidar Betonsky Unearthed Via 30th Anniversary Vinyl Release

Zidar Betonsky -
I gledam i sanjam i ne dam

The legendary underground trio Zidar Betonsky has returned to the spotlight with the definitive vinyl release of “I sanjam i gledam i ne dam.” This carefully crafted edition marks the 30th anniversary of the band’s formative years, documenting their rise as one of the first Split-based acts to ditch the live drummer in favor of a pioneering electro-industrial sound.

Formed by scene veterans Edi, Zdeslav, and Hrvoje, Zidar Betonsky carved out a unique space in the mid-90s alternative circuit. Their sound, a fusion of 80s cold wave intensity and the abrasive, “Albini-esque” guitar aesthetics, has been preserved here across two sides of high-fidelity vinyl: The Studio Side features the original six-song demo recorded in the summer of 1995 while The Live Side captures the raw energy of their February 1996 performance in Ilirska Bistrica, Slovenia.

Released as the first audio installment of the Tajni Split (Secret Split) media project, the record is a massive collaborative effort involving six independent labels, including Geenger Records and Slušaj najglasnije!.

While the recordings capture a specific moment in the mid-90s, the band’s influence resonated for decades. Despite its DIY “guerrilla” origins, the material sounds remarkably modern. This release finally rescues a “lost chapter” of alternative rock, offering a polished yet biting look at a band that redefined the sonic boundaries of the Adriatic underground.
