Vocalist Julia Minkin has released “Clouds,” a standout production from her album Not Ready. Co-created with her husband and producer, Andrew Sudhibhasilp, the song’s lyrics grapple with heavy themes like depression, desensitization, and mother love.
Musically, the track draws inspiration from Kavinsky and Kate Bush, aiming for a cinematic and powerful feminine sound. A highlight of the track is the outro, where a “glorious guitar solo”—a direct homage to Ian Bairnson—coincides with lyrics about a complicated relationship with maternal connection. Moving from Marseille to Chicago during its creation, “Clouds” is a nostalgic yet desperate piece of art that promises to move listeners with its sincerity and irony.
