After nearly two decades lost to label collapse and vanished masters, Muncie, Indiana post-hardcore band Brazil are bringing back their 2006 opus The Philosophy of Velocity. The remastered edition will be released this fall via Death, Love & Broken Records, the label run by frontman Jonathon Newby.
Originally co-produced by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mogwai, Thursday), the record fused dense sonic walls with surrealist storytelling, earning critical acclaim before Immortal Records’ collapse left it out of print. For years, it circulated only as a cult artifact among collectors.
Now restored with three unreleased Tarbox outtakes, the reissue offers both longtime fans and new listeners a chance to experience Brazil’s most ambitious work in full. Colored vinyl and digital editions will be available.
