Blue Deputy have today announced details of their forthcoming debut five-track EP ‘Reeling’ and shared new single ‘Agoraphobe’.
Featuring 5 tracks – including new single ‘Agoraphobe’ and recent singles ‘Big Fleece’ & ‘Cypress’ – the ‘Reeling EP’ will be released on the 22nd September. The full tracklisting:
The ‘Reeling EP’ showcases the Belfast trio’s blend of melodic midwest emo and blissful moment of gen-Z shoegaze, taking influence from Alvvays to Slow Pulp and underpinned by the band’s love of Indigo De Souza and The Beths.
Formed in 2020 in Philadelphia but since transplanted to Belfast as of 2022, Blue Deputy began as a low-key bedroom-bound pandemic project which has grown to be so much more. Their self-produced debut single “New Jersey” gained the project a cult following online, with fans drawn to it’s sparse, beautiful melody and Andy Bunting’s crushing lyrical vulnerability.
The current lineup of Andy Bunting (vocals and guitar), Caoilfhinn McFadden (bass) and Cathal Francis (guitar and vocals) now work to combine the sparkling twang of the band’s American midwest emo roots with elements of folk rock and bedroom pop, with soaring slide guitar, danceable bass lines, and lush harmonies.
‘Agoraphobe’ is released on 19th August 2025.
