Wichita Pop Punk Unit Stay The Course Released New Single “Post Traumatic”

Sometimes, things truly are meant to be. While working on Red Flag, their upcoming full-length, Stay The Course hadn’t even considered “Post Traumatic” for the tracklist. That changed when guitarist/vocalist Colby Munn sent a rough demo to frontman Joseph Meador—and just like that, the original tracklisting was reshuffled.

Serving as the second single from Red Flag, the song marks a sharp left turn from Stay The Course’s usual mix of melodic breakdowns and punchy hooks. This time, they set aside distortion in favor of acoustic instruments, added string accompaniment courtesy of Meador’s wife and eldest daughter, and handed lead vocal duties to Munn. The result is a beautifully stripped-down piece that reveals a different side of the band’s songwriting depth.

“This song is a far cry from what we normally do. Colby had sent me a demo of this song over the phone and I knew immediately that it had to go on the record, and he had to do the lead vocal on it. His songwriting is great and his voice is incredible. This song really showcases that. Also, my wife and eldest daughter performed the cello and violin on the song, so that makes it a little extra special for me.” – Joseph Meador (Lead Vocals … but backing vocals on “Post Traumatic”)

Stay The Course is an emo-leaning pop punk band from Wichita, Kansas, blending raw energy with emotional depth. Known for pairing high-octane riffs with heartfelt songwriting, their sound straddles the line between easycore aggression and melodic vulnerability.

Founded in 2015 by vocalist Joseph Meador as a solo project, Stay The Course has grown into a tightly bonded full band with a clear vision and evolving sound. After years of DIY releases and steady growth, they signed to Punkerton Records in early 2025. Their upcoming debut album Red Flag reflects that journey—channeling both the chaos and clarity that come from weathering life’s storms.
