Kaput is a Chicago based Post Punk/Art Rock/No Wave project by producer and engineer Brian Fox (Electrical Audio), Nadia Garofalo (Heavy Feelings, formerly of Ganser), and featuring M. Sord (Jon Spencer and the Hitmakers) on drums.
Following Garofalo’s departure from Ganser, Fox asked Garofalo if they would like to work on a new project together. They immediately connected on their affinity for experimental songwriting, synth music, and poetry. Prioritizing play and experimentation in their writing
Their new single, Runner, exemplifies this clearly. Frantic percussion racing alongside matter of fact vocals and a dance ready bass. Garofalo tears into the microphone singing “you’ll run till you’re dead”. Overflowing with contempt for the grind of modern work culture and the insane expectations many of us live with.
“It’s something I think everyone experiences in their own way, realizing that you can run yourself into the ground and it may never be enough because enough is something you have to decide for yourself. I imagine the clarity of a jog down an endless suburban street” – NG
They look forward to releasing their debut LP in early 2025.
