Perth’s favourite clock-rockin’ trio, Getting Dumber, struck the local scene in late 2022 putting their own spin on melody and power-chord driven punk/pop inspired by the greats of the genre such as The Ramones, The Clash, The Replacements, Jawbreaker, Rancid and Husker Du.
After a self-released demo EP in 2023 and playing increasingly bigger shows with like-minded Perth bands Rat Salad, Lonesome Dove, Spacerhead, Ten Cent Tiger, Surf Shop Cops etc. Getting Dumber know there’s no better time than now to unleash their debut album “Just a Second”.
Produced by Cameron Murphy at Opaque Audio (Miles Away, The Chain, Gloam, Flowermouth), “Just a Second” is 8 tracks of punchy, polished, high energy, anthemic punk, packed with brain and brawn. The album clocks in at roughly 20 minutes but will be ticking though your head for many more with its infectious hooks, riffs and sing-a-longs.
Featuring the rhythm section of Perth punk/emo stalwarts Grim Fandango, Getting Dumber are no strangers to the Australian scene. In Grim Fandango, several albums and EPs were released through Melbourne’s Poison City Records and countless shows played all over the country with the likes of The Smith Street Band, Luca Brasi, NOFX and The Gaslight Anthem.
The members of Getting Dumber have spent a lifetime acquiring the skills needed to write memorable songs and put on a fun, passionate performance. The future timeless classic album “Just a Second” is available NOW on all major streaming platforms.
