Hailing from Annecy, France, the band The Blue Marmalades has stood out since its creation with a unique musical recipe. Mixing tangy guitar notes with a solid, salty rhythm section, the band offers a sonic jam with psychedelic and oriental flavors, topped with “bittersweet” lyrics.
The quartet explores and innovates, seeking to revive vintage rock with a modern twist. Their first musical treat, “Inside My Brain”, will be available on July 19th 2024.
“This EP, we’re not going to lie, took us quite some time and work. Firstly, because we weren’t starting from scratch in terms of recording technique, but almost (laughs). We had to set up a room in a barn kindly lent to us by Loic’s father, our bassist. We finished that in early October 2023, then spent all autumn and part of winter recording whenever we could, outside of work hours.
In terms of composition, on the contrary, it went quite quickly. Beyond the first 2 tracks of the EP that we composed in 2022, the other tracks took their final forms in spring/summer 2023. We played them live a couple of times before recording them. The arrangement part was also done in a home studio,” explains the band.
The influences of this EP are diverse: from Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin to bands like All Them Witches and King Gizzard, including the metal of Tool and Porcupine Tree, there’s definitely something for everyone to enjoy!
