Mayflower Madame Released New Song And Video “Never Sever”

Available on all digital platforms from today, September 10, 2024, “Never Sever” is the third single taken from Norwegian band Mayflower Madame‘s highly anticipated album Insight (coming out on November 1st). Compared to the preceding offerings “A Foretold Ecstasy” and “Paint It All in Blue“, which have received great acclaim and extensive radio support (including airplay on BBC Radio 6), the new track shows a more direct and dynamic side of the band. The characteristic elements of their deftly blended post-punk/shoegaze/psychedelia are still here and their sound is still spun with alluring dark textures, but is now more profoundly interwoven with rays of light and bittersweet melancholia.

On top of this, there’s a certain dose of rock’n roll swagger in the verses combined with a delicate flow of dream-pop sensibilities in the choruses, making “Never Sever” both one of their more intricate and easily accessible songs to date. Lyrically, the song conveys a somewhat nostalgic sentiment about being unable to restore or unwilling to escape a fateful ghost from the past.

Over the past years, Mayflower Madame has gained a reputation far beyond their hometown of Oslo, Norway. They made their debut with the album “Observed in a Dream” in 2016, which received rave reviews and earned them tours across Europe and North America, while 2020s long-awaited sequel “Prepared for a Nightmare” firmly established their position as one of the continent’s leading purveyors of cinematic psych-gaze swathed in 1980s post-punk and dark romanticism.

The covid-19 pandemic hit hard just after their sophomore release, but in 2022 Mayflower Madame finally returned touring in the UK, France and Eastern Europe. Last year the band focused on writing and recording new music while also releasing a Deluxe Version of Prepared for a Nightmare containing five new bonus tracks.

Their upcoming album Insight has been mixed and mastered by renowned Italian engineer Maurizio Baggio (The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher, The Vacant Lots) and is promising to be their best release so far. It will be launched November 1st via Night Cult Records (digital), Up In Her Room (vinyl) and Icy Cold Records (CD).

Mayflower Madame is Trond Fagernes (vocals, guitar, bass) and Ola J. Kyrkjeeide (drums). “Never Sever” also features contributions from Kenneth Eknes (synth).
