The highly anticipated album This Salvaged Wreck by Knoxville-based band Bones in the Museum is now out. The album is a concept narrative that tells the story about a man stranded a on a deserted island and his attempt to survive both physically and mentally.
Featuring the compelling track “Sit and Rot,” a fresh take on pop punk that showcases the prowess of the band’s high energy and creative innovation, this release promises to captivate listeners with its exploration of themes of personal reflection, love, and loss through crunchy guitars, infectious melodies, and poetic lyrics. The album also features several others singles such as “All Washed Up,” “Lunatic Lover,” and “Bleached Bones in the Sun.”
The latest single is “Down With the Ship.” In this section of the narrative the protagonist is pitting against a raging sea after his ship is destroyed. The struggle forces him to question whether life is worthing living if you can’t live it for yourself. Metaphorically, the song is about the consequences that must be endured when forging your own path in life.
The band’s previous album, Nocturnal Creatures, had a more bedroom pop vibe with a heavier emphasis on acoustic guitars and dark undertones. The new album is an electric-guitar driven romp that features influences from several genres that give way to 90s nostalgia such as post-punk, pop-punk, power-pop, and grunge.
Led by singer/songwriter Joe King, Bones in the Museum’s dynamic sound, supported by a rotating cast of guest musicians, continues to solidify the band as a standout in the indie music scene. Prepare for an immersive musical experience that delves into uncharted sonic territories and showcases the band’s unparalleled artistry and innovation.
