Black Doldrums Announce New LP ‘In Limerence’; Share New Single And Video ‘Hideaway”

London-based trio Black Doldrums have announced their second album ‘In Limerence’. Out October 18th via Fuzz Club, they are also dropping the first preview in the shape of new single ‘Hideaway’, out everywhere today alongside a music video. The album is set to arrive ahead of November UK tour dates – including a show at London’s Moth Club on November 1st – and the band are today announcing further March 2025 European dates in support.

Co-produced by Theo Verney (English Teacher, TRAAMS, Egyptian Blue), Black Doldrums’ moody gothic post-punk is at its purest and most atmospheric on ‘In Limerence’. Seeking a cleaner, more direct sound that still captured the whirlwind intensity of their live shows, their familiar darkwave and shoegaze influences are contrasted here against breezy, shimmering “goth-pop” moments.

The follow-up to their 2022 debut album ‘Dead Awake’ stays true to the band’s spirit whilst pushing things forward in a way that feels timeless and more meaningful, and brings with it a newfound clarity and lyrical honesty. Delving into themes of regret, loneliness, confusion and obsession, it’s little wonder that the album title is ‘In Limerence’ – a state of intense, all-consuming romantic longing.

The band (comprised of founding members Kevin Goddard [guitar/vocals] and Sophie Landers [drums] alongside new bassist Daniel Armstrong) says of the new album: “There is a constant theme of trying to find happiness in a confusing modern world. In a time of protest, this album is itself a protest by expressing how to feel in such a world.”

On the lead single ‘Hideaway’, out everywhere now, they add: “A love song with a twist. A wanting and longing to let someone in and show them who we reallyare inside. Both good and bad for better or worse. I want you to know who I am. Now you’re inside you won’t like what you see.”
