Tidal Water – Corrupted

Corrupted” is a debut single by Tidal Water, recently released via all streaming platforms. It’s the first taster of what you might expect from “Polarity,” their upcoming full-length album slated for release later this year. Helmed by Martin Hovden, Tidal Water also consists of Renato Anesi, Jims Lehner, and Markus Matland. The song arrives as a perfect showcase of their musical and creative abilities, proving that there are still bands capable of delivering such a fresh and unique listening experience to the broader auditorium. Soundwise, Tidal Water embraces the fundamental elements of many different but complementary music genres. Perhaps alternative rock comes to mind first, but the band successfully experiments with blues, hard rock, punk rock, rock ‘n roll, and other similar styles. These experimentations resulted in a catchy, hypnotic, addictive, memorable composition that will grab your attention even if you’re not into these music genres. It’s due to their experience, knowledge, creativity, talent, and awareness of what sonic direction suits them the best.

As soon as you press play, you’ll notice how these skillful musicians thought about even the tiniest details and nuances while writing, composing, arranging, recording, and producing their debut track. “Corrupted” arrives with a perfect structure, stacked with many segments, brilliant ideas, and exceptional musicianship. One of the most impressive things about this song must be their ability to tastefully merge fundamentals of alternative, hard rock, and blues with the intensity of punk rock. The song possesses such a catchy groove, but there’s also a subtle dosage of aggression lurking around. It’s a perfect balance that unquestionably works to the advantage of this track. Not to mention how all the instrumentation is harmoniously paired to perfection, allowing the listener to fully submerge the listening apparatus and enjoy each vocal, sonic, and rhythmic maneuver.

“Corrupted” arrives with so many details that you’ll need several listening to grasp everything Tidal Water implemented into it. It seems like any instrumentation could serve as a centerpiece, but let’s start with the vocals. The lead vocalist conveys the message in a very distinctive way. His confident and powerful performance commands attention and guides the listeners by expertly balancing low, mid, and high notes, while the impressive vocal range also decorates all the segments and orchestrations. The flawlessly assembled interplay between rhythm and lead guitars immensely supports these vocal articulations. You’ll hear how tasty, generously distorted chord progressions and riffs resonate on one side, while the other side offers various guitar licks, leads, melodies, harmonies, and other sonic maneuvers. Besides keeping a steady ambiance, both guitar players improvise as much as possible, making this song even more impressive.

Tidal Water also thought about the rhythm section, so you’ll hear how these skillful musicians paired all those intricate, vividly hearable, warm-sounding basslines with mentioned orchestrations. These low ends are subtle, but you’ll notice more of them as the song approaches the end. Also, it’s good to mention that bass guitar marvelously binds guitars with drums. This song wouldn’t sound this good without an excellent drumming performance. Besides dictating groove and tempo, the experienced drummer keeps the remainder of the orchestrations with moderate, detailed, well-accentuated beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. Each band member plays a significant role in the visionary song assembled by experienced songwriters such as Martin Hovden. His ideas shine through every segment, orchestration, detail, and nuance, allowing such a memorable listening experience to anyone even remotely into these genres. Tidal Water is unquestionably a visionary band that expertly blends alternative, hard rock, blues, and punk rock in such a fresh and unique way, and “Corrupted” is a perfect debut track that you need to check out as soon as possible. The single is available on all streaming platforms. Don’t miss it!
