John E Vistic – Humanz Are Bastardz EP

Humanz Are Bastardz is a new EP by John E Vistic, Bristol-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. This material consists of four outstanding compositions that reveal all his experience, knowledge, skills, ideas, and musicianship. John E Vistic incorporates many music genres in his music. Perhaps rock ‘n’ roll comes to mind first, but don’t be surprised if you stumble upon some of the finest properties borrowed from many complementary music genres like hard rock, punk rock, alternative, etc. The artist uses all these additional elements as more than necessary enhancements, accentuations, decorations, and other details to uplift his tracks on an entirely new level, while he remains loyal to the primary sonic direction. These experimentations with different, but complementary music genres resulted in an outstanding material fully staked with impressive moments.

Humanz Are Bastardz commences with the title track. This particular composition serves as a perfect introductory piece for those new to John E Vistic sound. You’ll notice all those experimentations with rock ‘n’ roll, hard rock, and punk rock thanks to the profoundly detailed segments where heavily distorted basslines, luxuriously sounding guitars, empowering saxophone maneuvers, and magnificent drumming serve as a perfect backdrop for John E Vistic vocal performance. He perfectly emphasizes all the orchestrations throughout the entire song, but it’s mostly notable during the anthemic, memorable choruses. Crime And Punishment continues with the same energy, power, and pace, but with an ambiance more leaning to the classic punk rock. You’ll notice how the seventies and eighties sound inspired John E Vistic to write and compose such a song, but he also incorporated some modern ideas into it. Therefore, Crime And Punished may evoke some nostalgia, but in the end, it’s a modern punk song stacked with exceptional musicianship, noisy experimentations, and other sonic delicacies.

At first, Gunz Germz & Steal seems like a song that continues in the same tradition as Humanz Are Bastardz and Crime And Punishment, with all the rock ‘n’ roll riffs and energetic beats that lurk around at the beginning, but the band slows down the pace with this one. The half-time rhythmic sequences and stripped-down riffs at the particular segments come as a refreshment, giving more depth to the entire material. Gunz Germz & Steal also carries a slightly darker ambiance, mostly hearable in horror punk or modern goth rock songs, but it’s actually a track with so many complex segments where the entire band showcases collective experience and musicianship. To Every Purpose Under Heaven closes Humanz Are Bastardz with more half-time rhythmic acrobatics and a much calmer atmosphere than the previous songs. This composition could easily pass as an alternative rock ballad, where the reverby guitars resonate with intricate themes, leads, melodies, harmonies, and chord progressions. Still, the bass guitar remains raw, abrasive, and distorted from scratch to finish, keeping this song attached to the remainder of the material. It’s such a perfect closure to a marvelous extended play release that will impress you with a mixture of eclectic numbers.

Humanz Are Bastardz is a collection of magnificent rock ‘n’ roll songs where the entire band shines with flawless musicianship, while John E. Vistic decorates every possible moment with his eclectic vocal maneuvers. It’s one of those records you should immediately check out. The EP is available on all streaming platforms.
