The Inciters Released Video For “Boot N Soul”

Santa Cruz 10 piece Northern Soul group THE INCITERS have released their video for “Boot N Soul,” their first single as part of the Pirates Press Records family. The 7” accompanying the video release features “Boot N Soul” on the A-side backed with “Love (Your Pain Goes Deep)” on the B-side, is now available on the Pirates Press Records webstore!

”Boot N Soul” 7” is the latest release in a rich and deep catalog for a band who boasts a nearly 30 year career. However, this single in particular has a special history. “The song was written and given to us by Lars Nylander. He wrote it in a reggae style for The Impalers, but they never got to use it. He thought it would make a great foot stompin’ soul song so he gave it to us,” says trumpet player Rick Kendrick. Not only did Nylander pen the tune, he joined the band for this track by recording keys for this song.

For Kendrick and the rest of the band, the idea for this video is a long time coming. “I wanted to include a ton of elements of the Santa Cruz scene, the scooter scene, mod and Northern Soul scene and show how much fun we have together as a band,” remarks Kendrick. For those unfamiliar with the Santa Cruz scene, its rich history which intersects punk, scooters, mod, and Northern Soul is one of its defining characteristics and also has fostered a tight-knit family among its members.

The Inciters are not your average 10 piece band. The group has been together since 1995, with a number of different members over the years, and have been delighting the crowds of punks, mods, skins, Oi!, and power pop shows with their own brand of Northern Soul tunes.

So what exactly is Northern Soul? It’s a sound inspired by soul artists from the 1960s hailing from northern England. Kendrick explains that these artists would have these huge soul all-nighters where they’d spin these high energy soul ‘stompers.’

With an upcoming European tour including several festival appearances, a music video, and more new tunes on the way, the Inciters are bringing their foot-stomping songs and energy to the masses!
